I can't exactly complain about the weather we've had this winter in nyc, however i am pretty excited about going to Florida this weekend. As a matter of fact, i should go cause my car to the airport is going to be here any second. Wooohoo.
I was asked by Ryan Michael Cheung from FLARE.com (thank you!) to share my footwear pick for this spring and now that the story is live, i'm excited to share it with you guys! Below are my photos, but you can check me out on flare.com right here and read my must-know style tip. And here's a confession: i also have these strappy bad boys in fuchsia - i couldn't decide so i got both. This happens often.
The details: T-shirt - Pencey Denim - AG Cuff- Forever21 Bag - Bottega Veneta Shoes - Zara
It's new york fashion week and i wish i could wear this. Alas, it is way too cold. I love the neutral tones and the simple pairings in this look, bust mostly i love the proportions on her tall lanky frame.
The man is currently down under and even if he says that apparently the Australian summer hasn't been exactly good this year, i am still extremely jealous of his momentary sampling of warm air. And even if the New York winter hasn't exactly been, err, wintery this year, i am still SO ready for spring. Or a tropical getaway, whichever comes my way.
I know, i know, where have i been? It was a little difficult to blog last week, so forgive my prolonged absence, for i am back. Anyway, here's a story for you - as you all know, yesterday was the official release date of the Jason Wu for Target collection and i just happened to be in New Jersey visiting my boyfriend's parental units. He skeptically happily agreed to stop by a Target before heading back to city so i could check it out, naively thinking that a southern New Jersey Target would not be pillaged only a mere few hours after the collection's release time. This gal was wrong, folks. By the time we got there around 1, there were maybe a total of 10 pieces left (and i'm being generous), all in XL. Major bummer, as i was hoping to grab one of these and perhaps a dress or a top. In a stroke of genius move, i decided to ask the fitting room attendant if there were any JW items in their unwanted pile and, in a mirage-like moment, among the giant mound of rejected clothing lied a lovely blush pink blouse with white polka dots, size medium. I promptly tried it on, got the thumbs up from the boy and made away with my "Jason Wu" piece, utterly satisfied. And with a price tag of 35 bones, i nearly ran out of the store. The end.
Yep i went there, just call me the pun master. Anyway, let's get to the more important subject at hand here: my brand new Trina Turk print blouse. It's oversized, just how i like everything, it's perfectly slouchy - comfort level at an all-time high due to silk - and it's print perfect. My thought process while purchasing was: it'll look amazing with white jeans, blue jeans and nude or khaki bottoms, as well as any type of cutoff. It can also be dressed up or down (ideal beach cover-up!) Basically, it was a no-brainer.
Taking inspiration from my gal Stephanie, i've decided to document my latest culinary endeavor. I have made these bad boys before and they are absolutely delicious, but the best part is that they are actually healthy (for serious, i am really not kidding) - they don't contain any sugar, egg, flower or butter! I'm not a huge fan of too much sweetness so these are perfect for me - find the recipe here. Every time i've made them i skipped the shredded coconut, added a little extra oatmeal and instead of putting the full canola oil portion, i do half canola, half organic Agave nectar (but you could also use honey). As for the chocolate i've used both Lindt 85% cocoa bar and Scharffen Berger 70% bittersweet bar, but you can use whatever you like, of course. Give them a try for a guilt-free sweet fix.
As many of you may know already, i'm not really a bag person. I often go bagless and when i do take a purse, it's pretty much always the same one. I haven't bought a bag in roughly 3 years and i think it's time - i recently noticed that my favorite go-with-everything handbag is starting to give, therefore i am now on the handbag market. How A M A Z I N G are these two opions?
On another note, in case you haven't noticed my sidebar, follow my most deepest desired items (!) via the super fun currentlyobsessed.me site. In case you're not familiar with it, it's basically a page where you gather all your coveted items, like a shopable wish list. Is there anything better than that? Anyway, if you like what you see here and want to know about what i would wear (WWHW??*), i would recommend to click on the button and Stalk Me!
Every single one of these images is bringing me back to my teen years and i always welcome a trip down memory lane. How amazing does Daria look (big surprise-NOT)? How obsessed are you with the outfit in Steven Meisel's photo (the leather dress)? And who wasn't obsessed with Kurt - and still is (confession: i used to read his biographies over and over and cry every single time)?
I keep forgetting to post these photos. We had fun in the office a couple of months ago when the gals from The American Vernacular swung by with their gorgeous vintage pieces for us to try on. I fell in love with the little white lace number, it fit so perfectly i didn't want to give it back. I could already see myself stage hopping at Coachella in it... The other dress was also an ultra-flattering, fun piece. It kind of reminded me of something Drew Barrymore would have worn with Docs and a cardigan back in the 90s. I highly recommend a visit to the site, they have some really great stuff. See our post about it on xoJane.com, too!
I'm craving all sorts of different nail paint recently and - SHOCKER - they're all kind of pastel-related.
1. Essie in To Buy Or Not To buy (available in February), similar color here 2. MAC in Hypertension 3. Essie in Nagivate Her (available in Febraury), good alternative here 4. Zoya in Skylar 5. Chanel le Vernis in Rose Insolent
Winter really hasn't been felt yet this year, which may explain why all i am visually attracted to are brights and whites? I've also really been into dressing up like a boy recently. Loose-fitting clothes with just a touch femininity is what i'm gravitating toward.
I've been wanting a suede fringe jacket ever since i can remember. Seriously, it's been so long i can't even give a time frame. Lina is reminding me of this ol' dream of mine. I hope to achieve it some day. (doesn't that sound like a country song?! Thought so.)
